For my new fall basket quilt I thought I would re-visit the basket I made in the spring (shown above). For this new basket I wanted to add some decorative fabric to the woven basket to make it more “fall-ish” . If you missed the basket weaving tutorials from the spring you can find them here.
To start with I pinned my vertical basket bars. It turns out that this works much better if you have an odd number of bars ( I had to add one at the end)
Then I wove a few horizontal bars in.
I made an extra wide (1/2") bias bar of this cute plaid to weave next.
Here it is all woven and glued and waiting for pumpkins.

Oh my. I love this! In the past, I made real baskets with cane and wood strips, so the idea of actually weaving the fabrics in the basket makes me very happy. Yours is really terrific! Thanks! As always, your blog is a treat. Happy stitching! B
