A couple of weeks ago, blog reader extraordinaire Linda sent me some pictures of her new way to do hearts. Unfortunately I think I messed up her pictures when I downloaded them. Luckily, Mimi’s Bloomers Block 6 has hearts in it so I thought I would give it a try and WOW was that fun and EASY. Here’s how she did it:
First, cut you template out.
Then cut out a heart in your fabric of choice, making sure to leave a scant 1/4” seam allowance.
Clip into the point at the top.
Starting at the top of the heart, make a small running stitch in the seam allowance all the way to the bottom.
Leave a longish tail of thread at the bottom.
Do the other side in the same way.
Pull one thread tight, starch and press. Repeat on the other side.
Fold lower point under and press.
And here you have a perfect little heart!!!!
and a sneak peak…Block 6 coming Friday!

Perfect pictures Erin and I tried pulling the thread in the opposite direction to tuck in the lower point and it worked great. Thank you for posting it on your blog. You're the best.

The result looks splendid, but has some of the text gone missing? The text says "press", but the picture shows a paintbrush with something (fray check? glue?). I'd like to try your method, but now I'm not sure what to do exactly.
Thanks!

I love it! I've always had a very difficult time with that inner point at the top. This will make life so much easier. Thank you and please thank Linda for me.

I’m really impressed the design and layout of your site. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Exceptional work!

What a great idea, do you think this would work for a classic leaf shape too? I have 180 leaves to make for a border and this would save a TON of time!!!
