Here’s a shot of my design wall/table this Monday. I was
working away on my birds from last week but the purple fabric seemed really
dark. After trying just about everything I decided to take it out and
substitute some teal fabric. Ahhh! I like that much better. This was partly
inspired by the piece of fabric you see below. I decided to modify a My Tweets
Block and make a small mini quilt for my office with this. That way I can
practice doing the embroidery before undertaking a big project.

I just saw this yesterday and was so excited that I had to breath into a paper bag. My newest pattern, Miss Ashley, is on the cover of McCall's Quilting's latest special issue America Quilts Together. You can read all about the pattern here:
I hope all my US friends are enjoying a nice holiday
weekend. I am having a lovely time thinking about my new quilt which I HAVE to
call Twitter. Here’s the scoop. When I was doing the McCall’s Design Star
contest back in 2010, the last project we had to do was to adapt our first
entry into a different quilt. I had used my Miss Hannah quilt as my first
And the quilt I made as an adaptation was Ambrosia:
Well, a few weeks ago I was getting nostalgic for a large
medallion quilt so I decided to see what I could do with Miss Kelly, the center
for My Tweets. Here’s what I’ve come up with so far.
Recently, I’ve wanted to do a quilt that combines both appliqué
and some embroidery. I am hoping for an exotic feel here as well. I think a lot
of my blog the next few months will document what I am learning by doing this
So, I’m off to start my big girl job tomorrow. I am still
going to be blogging and rest assured, Mimi’s Bloomers will continue as well. I
don’t know how this whole thing is going to go but I am up for the adventure…hope
you are too.
