Hey, are those embroidered stems I see? If not they are the tiniest applique and I'm going to freak out!

I am just going to ask what stitch you used cause it is going to be embroidery for the stems.
Wanda, you CAN applique them if you really, really want to.

I've never seen a cardinal in real life as I live on the west coast of Canada, they are very lovely. I look forward to seeing how this progresses.

Ditto on the love for cardinals. It was my mom's favorite bird. We've had instances of cardinals tapping on my sisters' windows and we're convinced it's mom. It's become spirt bird to us. I must do this BOM as it will have special meaning to me.

Your cardinals are GORGEOUS. I so admire your work. 2013 is going to be the year that I finally take the plunge and try my own applique quilt! Do you do needle turn applique or fusible machine applique? Do you have a post or tutorial anywhere specifically for newbies? Or should I just go through the Applique Lessons category that I just noticed on the sidebar? Duh... ;-)

Erin, you just amaze me!!! This is just soooo beautiful. I've been to the Houston Internation Quilt Festival the last 2 years, and NOTHING THERE can top what you do. I can't tell you how much it means to us that you SHARE! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!
My aunts and cousins get together to quilt, and they are just amazed at the blocks I bring to put in our family quilt...the blocks that you've shared with us. They say that they couldn't do them because it's too advanced for them, but they CAN. You not only give us the patterns, you show us step-by-step with pictures how to do it! You have made me a better quilter with the ability to do things I never imagined I could do. Thank you, Erin!!!
