I came across these two pictures in a box of old photographs my aunt sent me on my 40th birthday. The top picture is of my grandfather, John Conrad, and my eldest uncle, Warren Conrad. The second picture has my uncle Edmond (man on the right I think) with some of his friends. Both of these uncles died in WW2. I’m particularly struck by the picture of my grandfather and his smiling face. How hard it must have been for him and my grandmother to watch their sons go off to war. How hard it must have been to lose them. I think this Memorial Day I’m not only going to remember the incredible sacrifices that the men and women in our armed services have made but the sacrifices their families have made as well. All I can say is THANK YOU.
That was beautiful. May God bless each and every one of our fallen service members.
