To celebrate summer and school being out here is a very simple little needle case to keep your Florabunda threads nice and tidy. As my family can tell you, “Nice and Tidy” is my middle name. They will also tell you that I have an evil twin called “ If you’re not tidy I’m not nice”. Anyway, digressions aside, this little case fits nicely in the pocket of my Appliqué Block taker for easy sewing on the go. I will have the free download up tomorrow so for now it’s just the how to.
Here we go.
When I am making a flower that has inner points like this I like to press these points first
After I have all the points pressed I CAREFULLY press the out petals down…see how close my fingers are to the iron…YIKES
When it’s done it will look like this on the back.
Then I pre-assemble my flower . I then place the appliqué on the right side of the background fabric and sew it down.Use whatever method of applique you enjoy for this part.I’m using hand appliqué here because it’s easier for me.
Here it is ready for the next step.
Be sure to check back tomorrow for the rest of the how to.
Hi Erin - So cute!! Thanks for sharing. Can you tell us, after you pre-assemble and you are ready to stitch down your flower, do you applique through all layers? For instance, when you applique the small green center of this flower, do you just stitch it to the pink/cream center, or do you go through the pink petal layer and background fabric too? Thanks so much - I just love your blog - it's so much fun to "visit" you.

Hi Erin:
This is really cute. Thank you for all your posts. I read your blog everyday and feel that I already know you in person. I know that you and I have talked about this before - the background fabric that you use on your quilts and you referred me to a place but I can't seem to find the name of it or the name of the fabric that you mentioned. Can you please refresh my memory and give me the link to the online store. The fabric that I was looking at resembles the pink that you used on the flower for the posy needle case.
Thank you so much.

I've joined this swap after I seen this cute needle case. I'm not really an aplique person but I'm willing to give it a try & the directions are so so easy. Keep giving us challenges to do .

I really appreciate the blog since the first time do I saw it. Now they have reached another milestone which lead us to report about it, and I think it's a great new... as the content of the text.
