Last week my quilting buddy and fellow McCall’s finalist, Mary Kay, alerted me to the fact that this here little blog was named one of the 55 Best Quilting blogs in Quilter’s Home magazine.
Eeeep!
Of course I dropped everything and ran to the store to get a copy of that magazine. Well, it turns out that it wasn’t on newsstands yet so I have patiently (truthfully patience was not part of this) gone to EVERY book store in my area looking for a copy. I’m sure the security personnel at Border’s and Barnes and Noble now have special alerts for THAT LADY who is stalking the sewing and crafts section. But my patience (some might call it obsessive-ness) has paid off and I am now in possession of not one but TWO copies of the magazine. One for me and one to give to you! To enter just leave a comment suggesting some fun summer reading since it is officially SUMMER VACATION here and I feel the need to lollygag in the bag yard with a large iced tea and a good book!
In between lollygagging I will continue to make-up dimensional flowers and other quilty things for my wonderful blog readers. Speaking of which here is a small download on the dimensional poppy.
I am a big J.D. Robb fan. Nora Roberts in the future.
Thanks for the super-duper great blog.

Congratulations, that's so exciting! That's a list you definitely deserve to be on.
I haven't had much time for reading lately, but would love to read through the Elm Creek series by Jennifer Chiaverini.

a fine summer reading for me could be "If you could see me now" by Cecilia Ahern. This one can be in between the spring and the summer, really beautiful reading for me, it was so nice, so soft, the time passed so fast. Recomended.
Thanks for sharing with us your emotions...

I am currently rereading Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke. It is part three to Inkheart and Inkspell. I love kids' lit. On a lighter note, I recommend I Can't Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg.
Thanks so much for your blog. Your tutorials are the best.

Regarding Annette's comment above. Interesting fact about the "Sweetness atthe Bottom of the Pie" book. The owner of my LQS is a friend of the author and the books are based on stories of HER childhood. She is a colorful gal so I'll bet it's good reading. I meant to read it when she first told me about it but then forgot. Thanks for reminding me.

Well, for your summer reading enjoyment try, The Help. It will be a motion picture sometime this year as well. BTW - not surprised at all that YOUR blog was one of the best blogs. Your work, tutorials and writing are exceptional. I've become a devoted follower. Fingers are crossed for that magazine. Enjoy your holiday weekend.

Two other comments recommended Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander", and I third their recommendation. Also, "The Girl" books (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, etc). I also love two older Jude Devereaux books "Knight in Shining Armor" and "Legend". They're both about time travel from the present to the past. LOVE THEM! And before I forget - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

One of the best books I finished lately is Remarkable Creatures from Tracy Chevalier. I can highly recommend her other books too!
