I have been trying out the Sullivan’s cutting edge rulers for the last few weeks and I am just going to have to go buy myself some more (don’t tell my husband). They come in pretty much every size you could possibly want and they have this really great no-slip coating on the back so your fabric doesn’t take a little trip in the middle of cutting. The side that you cut with has a diamond carbide edge that actually sharpens your blade as you cut.
My favorite of these is the super long one. Unlike any other “yard stick” quilting rulers this one is 4.5” x 37” so you can trim the edges of your finished quilts. Here I am trimming my setting triangles from my new Pop-Up Posies quilt. Very very handy don’t you think?
When Pat asked me to do this hop she had some really fun ideas about what to share. First off is a recipe. I’m sharing my Arroz Con Pollo recipe with you guys because basically if I was left alone I would eat this EVERY DAY…except, of course, when I was eating chocolate. So here it is:
Pat also asked us to share the answers to three questions:
If you took a look inside my refrigerator what would you see?
Well, pretty much the big batch of Arroz con Pollo I just made and beer (my favorite drink next to coffee). I haven’t been to the grocery store yet this week.
What is your favorite TV show of all time and why?
Yikes…this really depends on my mood…but if I had to pick right now today, my favorite girl TV show (notice how I cheated?) would be Larkrise to Candelford . I cannot really tell you why except that I sometimes think I was born in the wrong century.
My favorite TV show to watch when we have the menfolk around is Firefly . I just love all the characters in this but most of all I love the language and the music. I want to be the character Zoe because I figure nobody would ever mess with me, EVER.
This last questions caused a tad of a controversy here. If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you? Well, I asked Himself (husband) this question and he immediately said Meryl Streep. I was flattered, really I was, but when I said “what about Julia Roberts?” he started laughing…really hard. When I posed this same question to my daughter and my best friend Amy, they both said Meryl Streep as well AND they both laughed at the idea of Julia Roberts. So, I guess I would have to say Meryl Streep, although I want all the laughing to be done by Julia Roberts.
Now on to the juicy part. Sullivan’s has a ruler for me to give away to one lucky lucky blog reader. You even get to pick the size! Just leave a comment telling us who you would pick to play you in a movie. I will pick a winner this coming Monday.

I pick Michelle Pfeifer. Everyone says I resemble her and not just in appearance but also in the characters she plays,,,spunky, sassy,,,etc. I just wish they'd give me her body and money as well! LOL Thanks for playing along in the give away. I'm having a blast reading all the tips for the rulers and I can't wait to try your recipe. Sounds yummo!

I'd pick Annette Funichello of the Mickey Mouse Club fame and Paul Anka days. LOL

I'm a Julia Roberts girl TOO!!! YAYNESS! I don't have the guts to ask my hubby about that. Thank you for the GREAT giveaway! So exciting!

Sandra Bullock would be my choice, funny, crazy, and bit on the wild side.
Posted by: Sandy | 09/28/2011 at 06:20 AM
I would have to say Courtney Cox cause of the way she acted on Friends, being the clean one..... Joan Crawford would have to be the real one except she is not with us anymore.,.....thanks for a chance at the rulers, I have always wanted one....

So hard to pick someone. How about Vivian Leigh - I can relate to her style. Thanks for the chance for the ruler
Posted by: Margaret | 09/28/2011 at 06:22 AM
I think Cheri O'Teri because people have said I remind them of her.
Posted by: Becky M | 09/28/2011 at 06:34 AM
I would want Rachel Carpani to play me. I think she is beautiful and plays some "gutsy" characters - which I like to think I am (just leave me alone in my dreamland). And for the record...I am not asking anyone, especially my family, what they think.

You made a good choice. I wouldn't really want anyone to have to play me in Hollywood.. my life isn't that interesting :)

I say Kathy Bates would play me.
Blade sharpening rulers what a genius idea.

I don't think Julia Roberts is such a stretch besides humor is part of it :) Definitly Drew Barrymore for me. We kinda look alike ;) Thanks for the chance to win the ruler. My favorite show is Doctor Who so I love BBC America.

I would like to have Grace Kelly or Audrey Hepburn play me. We look nothing alike but maybe like My Fair Lady, I will become quite the lady - what a dream! Would love the rulers. Thank you.

I asked my husband what he thought and he said Ashley Judd. Great choice! I adore her. So real but can also be sassy.
I would love to try this ruler out in real life. Does it feel different when you cut with it?
Thanks for the generous giveaway!

Love the idea of these rulers. I would pick Sarah Palin to play me-not an actress----yet.
Posted by: Pam | 09/28/2011 at 06:48 AM
The first person that came to mind is Kathy Bates! No nonsense, get out of my way, 'I'm older and I have more insurance'!
Posted by: Allison | 09/28/2011 at 06:49 AM
Thanks for the introduction to these rulers... I really thought I would never buy another ruler... But these really seem to have great new and desirable features!
As to actress.... Hmmm a couple of decades ago a friend who was accompanying me for a stroll around my flower gardens as I was recuperating from a surgery said, "You will make a great old woman." Now, I am still a decade away from retirement, and my choice of actress is not with us anymore... But since we are fantasizing... I would pick Helen Hayes!

I would love to win one of these rulers!!! BTW, I have heard about Lark Rise to Candleford before and it sounds like a show I would really like too! I keep hoping I can watch it.

Sandra Bullock can be transformed to homely and stout so that would work.
The yardstick ruler sounds wonderful - to keep us from working with dull blades. Thanks for the giveaway. alternate email mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com

Well I would definitely pick Paula Deen--I know, I know she isn't an actress but I love her! As for an actress I will take Angie Harmon of Rizzoli and Isles!
Posted by: Barb | 09/28/2011 at 06:57 AM
Do I have to choose a living actress? I"m so old I don't go to movies any more. How about Rosalind Russell - smart, sassy and so classy.
Posted by: D | 09/28/2011 at 06:58 AM
These rulers just look amazing and the one you showed, the yardstick, looks like a very good one to have for sure. There are many others I would probably choose first but that one would definitely be on my list.
I think I would choose Kathy Bates since she's got the same type of attitude I have many times.
Thank you so much for the recipe. That does look very good. I've printed this already and am going to check later to see if I have the ingredients in my houe to make it for supper. (I haven't gone grocery shopping myself lately either so the cupboards are getting bare lol)

Everybody used to tell me that I looked like Tina Fey. But then I cut my hair and I don't think I look like her at all. I guess I would choose her, though.

That yardstick ruler is so neat! Love your Pop-Up Posies! I would have to go with Sally Fields. Thanks for the giveaway.
