Hello everyone. I hope that all of you had a lovely holiday weekend. Here is a shot from my design wall. This is actually an old shot but it brings up an important point…just how exactly am I going to finish this quilt. In the next few days I will be providing finishing directions for both the sawtooth version and the appliqué version. When I am trying to decide what color I want to use for my border or sashing I find it’s good to get all the blocks out and look at the “grand total” of the fabric. I will usually bring them all shopping with me and lay them out on which ever fabric I am considering for the sashing and border. Sometimes what we think will be perfect ends up being too busy or too dull. If you have trouble with this I’m sure people will be happy to help you at your local quilt shop. I wish I could be more specific than that but my best advice is go with your gut.
Only yesterday did I decide to make this quilt: avoided it all year. I dled all of the blocks and will spend most of this week looking at fabrics for the applique. I am going to do it as a BOM so I don't get overwhelmed but I am looking forward to "tweeting" all year. Thanks for leaving everything up.

I am looking forward to it Erin. I have 3 more blocks to make. Did you give us the border size yet?

I can't wait to see how you put these together. I have appliqued 20 blocks (just posted all of them) I just finished, but can't decide how to set them. I've been looking through your blog to find some inspiration. Your designs always inspire me.

Love the story, although I did get a little misty. My dad passed in 82 and the holidays are still rough without him and mom. May peace be with you.
Thanks for sharing your work. I am definitely a fan of yours.
Blessings for the new year.
