Sewing at Break Neck Speed…time for a break

Well it is officially spring break here in my little neck of the woods. I can think of nothing but sleeping in. I will be away from the blog for a little bit so I can recover from the break neck speed at which I have been sewing. Well, sewing, driving, parenting, working etc etc etc…you get the idea. Plus I am going to spend time with these guys...

Who no longer look like this. I think that the main topic of conversation is going to be something like…”where exactly do you want to go to college this fall?”…or something like that. One has decided and one has not. All in all, not a bad problem to have.

I just got through uploading all the revised patterns at Pattern Spot. If you purchased a pattern you can now find the revised version in your My Downloads page.

Gosh, I sure hope I did that right and didn't confuse the patterns....maybe it's time for more coffee.

Just call me the Upload/Download Queen

First, I just want to thank everyone for all the positive comments about e-patterns. I'm still learning here and I got a message from Pattern Spot that a customer was having trouble printing a pattern. To fix this I have now included both full size drawings and enlargeable size patterns (easy to print on computer paper) in my e-patterns.

For those of you who have printers that allow you to print a large picture on multiple sheets of paper, you can just print that way. If you need to have them enlarged you can print the enlargeable pattern and take it to your local copy shop to have it printed.

Now I am currently trying to change all my patterns on Pattern Spot and all I am getting is error messages....hope to sort that out soon

What a Thank You Gift !!!!!

About a week ago the mail lady knocked on my door and handed me a really special package. I was really intrigued since I hadn’t ordered a thing (my husband would be shocked by that comment). When I opened it I have to say I was truly stunned. It turns out the Miss Kyra’s (of the Miss Kyra quilt) grandma is a collector of vintage things and she just happened to have these quilting magazines from 1929. She sent them to me as a thank you for the Miss Kyra quilt. They are unbelievably precious and I will treasure them always. I thought you might like a look.

This one was really fun…Hmmm I wonder what this season’s newest frocks look like in 2012? Don’t you just love the word “frock” ? I am seriously thinking of going out and buying myself a new “frock” for Easter.

Design Wall Monday

Well I don’t know about where you guys live but spring has sprung here in a serious way. I’ve even been keeping the windows open at night and my husband planted a new peach tree today. Yipeeee!!!!

Good thing my current quilt has spring written all over it. I know it doesn’t look too much different than last week but I have managed to sew some bias stems around that scalloped edging. Here’s a shot of the stitching in progress…as you can see my handy ipod is there reading stories to me…my current favorite is Emma by Jane Austen read by Juliet Stevenson…heaven.

Two Great Ways to Shop

So, it seems like people are very interested in downloadable patterns so I went ahead and opened a digital shop on Pattern Spot. Now there are two ways to get patterns. If you want the traditional print patterns like I have been selling you can go to my Etsy shop at:

Unfortunately, due to the rising price of printing I have had to increase my prices here. Also, I am keeping individual Florabunda and My Tweet blocks in the Etsy shop for now.

You purchase these directly from Pattern Spot and download them onto your home computer. No shipping at all. I have all my patterns except Florabunda up there and am planning on getting that up soon. Some of the files are quite large because I included the full color photo directions of the appliqué technique. For printing the large drawings you will need to use the “poster” setting when you print. There is some information here:

This is a new adventure for me and if there are any bugs, rest assured I will work them out.

Also…I am doing a little polling here. I have been hearing about Pattern Spot for a while now and am seriously considering signing up for it. It’s an online source for electronic sewing patterns. It seems that I have been spending a lot of time lately printing and packaging patterns. Personally I would rather have the time for sewing and designing.

Design Wall Monday

Remember this? I started this quilt last year and got all the way to the scalloped border and then I just had to take a break. I couldn’t really figure out what to do with all that white. Don’t get me wrong, I love white, but it was just a tad more white than I really wanted. I think I have a good idea what to do next…maybe…any ideas?
