As I was working on Mimi’s Bloomer’s Block 9 I noticed there were a couple of steps that would make a good tutorial. Here is a little bit about how I handle overlapping shapes.
When I am making my templates, I mark the part that goes underneath another shape with dotted lines.
Here is the top part of the flower and how I marked that.
Once my shapes are all pressed I pre-make the flowers. Here’s the top part of the flower.
Some dabs of glue.
The flower.
More glue.
And now the flower is all done and ready to put on the background. When I stitch this, I start by sewing the top down, then the flower and finally the base.
The REAL Block 9 will be up on Friday.
Thanks, Erin. I gave up on block one. I'll try this block when you post it. ~karen
