I wanted to show you my little trick for making the curved handles on Applique Block 4. These are tricky to do with my normal starch and press technique so I use freezer paper here.
First, cut the handle shape out of freezer paper. Since the handle has a specific orientation I made sure I traced the handle on the sticky side of the freezer paper.
Then I ironed it to the wrong side of my fabric.
I cut the fabric out, leaving a scat 1/4" seam allowance and clipped my inside curves.
Then I basted the seam allowance to the wrong side.
It gets a little lumpy so I pressed after I basted.
Then I put it together with the body of the watering can using basting glue. I will bast this to my applique back ground and stitch. After the stitching is done, I remove the basting stitches and cut open the wring side of the background and pull out the freezer paper.
Thanks for the tip. I will try the method you suggest.

Could you show what you mean by cutting out the background and pulling out the template. Do you do anything to the background once you remove the template..does it unravel??
Thanks!
