I ADORE your cardinals! This is going to be so beautiful. I do think quilting is going to give this stocking weight and richness. I can hardly wait to see the finish! Thank you for sharing this project.

You could cross hatch, you could echo quilt it. You could tiny swirl it.

I think small swirls and some pebbling. No matter what you decide to do it is going to be beautiful.

What about piano keys, or channel quilting with outline around the applique?
