I haven't posted my progress on the Chocolate Bonbons quilt in a while...that's because I'm going really slow. I love everything about applique borders except sewing them. Still worth it though, so I go on.
I've done borders by stitching them first and then sewing them on and by stitching the applique after the borders are sewn on. I prefer stitching the applique after the borders are sewn on. It is just too nerve wracking to trim those borders after the applique. I'm sure that has caused almost all of my gray hairs! One trick I find helpful is to fold the quilt up and pretend it's a block. The other trick is to have a really good audiobook!
