One Piece at a Time

I just LOVE this!

When I first started working at McCall's I had so much fun working with my friend Ashley. She was the photo stylist at the time and we had tons in common and spent many a happy meeting laughing hysterically at silly things.

Life has also had it's ups and downs for both of us. Ashley was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after I started working with her and my little quilt, Miss Ashley was made and named just for her. I actually made two, one for her and one for me, and mine hangs right over my sewing machine.

Fortunately she has recovered and we went on to make a series of videos together which also involved a LOT of laughing.

Ashley now has her own website, yarnscissorssilk, and it is filled with all kinds of inspiring things for creative people. Her Instagram is just filled with swoon worthy projects and inspiring pictures. Hop on over and check it out!

Chocolate Bob Bons Progress

Slowly but surely this quilt is coming together. I finished all the stitching on the top of the border. I now have all the pieces in place to start stitching the bottom border. It's a little too big for my design wall at this point!

The corner blocks are available on the blog. The other blocks are made with the Florabunda blocks which you can find in my shop.

Here's a start...

Here is my first stab at block 1 of my newest quilt, Bountiful. I basically spent yesterday in crazy design mode trying to make sure I had all the right colors. I'm pretty sure when people think of quilters designing blocks they conjure up some idyllic scene of someone quietly playing with fabric. I wish that were me, I really do. At my house it's more like a hot mess of flying fabrics and waking up in the middle of the night obsessing with how many shades of green are too many.

Anyway, here is how it will work. This quilt is going to have 16 individual blocks. All the blocks will be for sale in the store. Once we get to the end there will be an applique border. But remember, the is a Block of the Every Once in a While.

Anyone Interested?

So, I'm stitching the borders on my Chocolate Bon Bon quilt has gotten a bit, shall we say, tedious. I don't actually mind tedious as long as I have other design type things to do. So I started designing my next quilt and wanted to know if you wanted to join in. It's going to be 16 individual applique blocks. I can't really call it a Block of the Month, since each block will be complex and I am SLOW. How about a Block of the "Every once in a while"?
